Hannah Green has narrowly missed out on a medal in her debut Olympic

WA’s Hannah Green has narrowly missed out on a medal in her debut Olympic showing after a drama-filled final round that was interrupted by a lightning storm in Tokyo.

Green was embroiled in some late weather drama, with the threat of lightning forcing all players off the course for a 45-minute delay just as the Mt Lawley Golf Club product was lining up a 5m putt for a share of the bronze medal place on the penultimate hole.

But Green narrowly missed the putt when play resumed and stumbled to a bogey at the last to finish in a tie for fifth at -13 overall after carding a final-round 68. Compatriot Minjee Lee-4 Finished in share of 29th place.

American Nelly Korda clung onto the lead she held for most of the week to win gold, with her -17 good enough to keep Japan’s Mone Inami and New Zealand’s Lydia Ko (both -16) at bay.
