He became the second Australian to win in Europe this weekend, with Steph Kyriacou winning on the Ladies European Tour.

The 25-year-old Herbert entered the final day at Mount Juliet Estate with a one shot advantage and while he extended that to three in the early stages of his round, he would not have it all his own way. After losing control off the tee, he had to utilise all his scrambling skills and mental strength to reach the turn in 35 and at that point, he had been caught at the top of the leaderboard. But Herbert produced a wonderfully composed performance down the stretch, coming home in 33 to finish at 19 under, three shots ahead of Swede Rikard Karlberg and four ahead of American Johannes Veerman. The victory also gives Herbert a place in the field at The 2021 Open Championship alongside Karlberg, who birdied three of his last four holes in a 67, and Veerman who carded a 71.

Steph Kyriacou has gone wire-to-wire to claim her second Ladies Europen Tour crown overnight in the Netherlands. Kyriacou was flawless on Saturday, producing a bogey-free round of 67 to go with her opening rounds of 66,72 & 65 to win the Big Green Egg Open at Rosendaelsche Golf Club near Arnhem.

Her 18 under par total was enough to win by two from her final-round playing partner, Finland's Sanna Nuutinen (-16), with Scotland's Kylie Henry in third place at 10 under. After starting the day tied for the lead with the Finn, Kyriacou was again hot out of the blocks; a birdie on the first made her intentions clear. She then converted back-to-back chances on the fifth and sixth to get to three under for the day and out to a handy two-shot lead by the turn. Nuutinen, however, wasn't giving up, and when she rolled in three straight birdies on the 12th, 13th and 14th, the pair were again tied. Kyriacou, though, is made of stern stuff, and she responded in the best way possible with a birdie on the short par-three 16th.

A hole-out bunker shot for eagle at the 71st hole, a birdie to make the playoff and a heart-stopping five-hole sudden death marathon has propelled Sydney’s Cameron Davis to a stunning breakthrough PGA TOUR title at the Rocket Mortgage Classic.

One stroke back entering the final round at Detroit Golf Club, the 2017 Australian Open champion was even par through 11 holes before catching fire over the final seven holes, three birdies on the trot from the 12th hole, the eagle at 17 and a birdie from just six feet on the 72nd hole catapulting him into a playoff with Chilean Joaquin Niemann and American Troy Merritt.

A perfect drive and laser-like iron to inside six feet put Davis in prime position to close out victory in his 71st start on Tour but his putt at the first playoff hole stayed left on the high side, Niemann’s first bogey of the tournament leaving Merritt and Davis to fight it out at the second playoff hole.

After Davis safely found the putting surface with a wedge at the par-3 15th 20 feet behind the hole Merritt pulled his tee shot into the greenside bunker. The American produced a brilliant shot from the sand to make three and when Davis’s birdie putt failed to break enough to the right for the second hole in succession the playoff entered phase three.
